최근 어느 한국 신인정치가 신드롬을 바라보며
한국에 최근 흥미로운 정치현상이 발생하였다. 정치에 입문하고 창당한지 1달여 만에 제3의 정당지도자가 되었기 때문이다. 그는 한떄 촉망받는 한국의 최고의 지성인이자 석학으로서 법무부장관을 역임하기도 했다. 그런 와중에 엄격한 검증에서 자신뿐만 아니라 그의 부인 및 자녀 들 일문이 폐문에 이르럴 정도로 발가벗겨지고 더 나아가 제 2심에서 실형을 선고 받아 법률심의 판단만을 남은 상태의 최악의 상황에 내몰렸다. 그런데 그가 홀연히 공공선을 주장하며 정치에 입문하고 간명하고 공격적인 정치 슬로건을 내세우며 지금까지 보지 못한 정치 신드롬을 일으켰다. 그리고 마침내 제3당의 당수의 지위에 오르게 된 것이다. 이러한 정치 사회적 현상을 어떻게 설명할 것인가? 실로 놀라운 일이 아닐 수 없다. 물론 이와 같은 그의 정치적인 행보에 대하여 비판적인 시각 역시 적지 않다. 제 2심에서 실형을 받은 사람으로서 근신을 해야함에도 오히려 공격적이고 가히 선동적(?)인 정치가의 행보를 바라보는 시각은 양분된다. 그럼에도 그는 국민의 거의 20%에 가까운 지지를 받아 당당히(?) 제 3당의 대표가 된 것이다. 어찌보면 한국판 장발장의 화려한 부활인 셈이다. 물론 그의 죄는 아직 확정된 것은 아니다. 그렇기에 엄밀하게 보면 장발장으로 보는 것은 무리가 있다. 그러나 그간 사회의 비판을 한몸에 받아온 그의 행보에 대하여 어떻게 평가하고 또한 이러한 현상은 우리에게 무엇을 시사하는 것일까? 혹자는 그간 거의 모든 것은 잃은 최악의 절망적인 상황에서 공공선을 주장하는 그의 모습 특히 이러한 상황에서도 측은함보다는 그 나름의 품위와 격(?)을 잃지 않고 공공선을 주장하는 그의 모습에서 일종의 카타르시스를 느끼고 있다고 주장하기도 한다. 어쩌면 그의 주장처럼 그의 주장의 진정성과 타당성을 동조하기 때문이라고 볼 것인가? 과거의 고정관념으로는 쉽게 이해하기 어렵다. 혼란스럽기만 하다. 특히 정치 현실은 가히 상상을 초월할 정도이다. 도대체 정의가 무엇인지를 헷갈릴 정도이다. 오로지 서로 극단적인 공격만 하고 있으니 정작 본질은 외면되고 있어 보인다. 특히 공직자 들의 본연의 의무 이행에 대하여 가히 개탄하지 않을 수 없다. 일부 행태는 법리적으로나 상식적으로도 이해하기 어렵기 때문이다. 주권자인 국민은 사라지고 오히려 완장찬 대리인들만이 득세하는 상황이기 때문이다. 전통적인 언론에서의 논객의 주장은 더욱 더 놀랍기만 하다. 각자의 진영논리에만 집중할 뿐 정작 국민의 생각에는 안중에 없어 보인다. 그야 말로 본인은 뒷전에 내 팽겨쳐 두고 공복인 대리인들만 자신의 이익을 위하여 목소리를 높히는 양상이다. 더우기 그런 주장으로 일관하면서 겉으로는 이 모든 것이 정작 주인인 국민들을위한 것이라는 주장에 아연 질색할 지경이다. 그러다 보니 외국에서도 이런 상황에 대하여 비판적이다. 심지어 한강의 기적이 끝이 났다는 주장도 나온다. 그럼에도 어느 누국하나 이에 대하여 제대로 반박하고 이를 극복하려는 시도가 없어 보이니 더 안타깝기만 하다. 이제 무엇인가 자성과 함꼐 냉철하게 재점검을 할 시점으로 보인다. 선택적 정의가 아닌 진정한 정의의 확립이 필요하다. 더 나아가 각가자 국가의 구성원으로서 모든 권한과 의무의 이행을 성실하게 해야할 시점이다. 그리고 또한 그러한 행위는 객관적인 평가의 잣대로 엄격하게 검증되어야 한다. 그리고 잘못된 것은 이를 즉시 시정하고 더 나은 미래를 위하여 힘찬 발걸음을 내딛어야 한다. 그러기 위해서는 무엇보다도 건전한 사회상식의 재정립이 무엇보다도 필요하다. 사회문화가 성숙되어 스스로 자정시키는 사회적 자율기능이 복원되어야 한다. 너무 혼란스럽다. 무엇이 옳고 그른지를 가릴 수 있는 잣대의 재정립이 필요하다. 그런 의미에서 사법이 너무 정치화된 점을 부인하기 어렵다. 이제 사법의 권위는 거의 나락으로 떨어진 느낌이다. 이제 새로이 건전한 사회 상식을 확립하도록 하자. 그리고 각자가 자신의 위치에서 자신의 의무를 다하고 자신의 권리를 정당하게 행사할 수 있는 것이 이를 위한 첫걸음이 될 것이다. 그리고 이런 "비정상의 정상화" 과정을 흔드는 일체의 행위는 결코 용납되어서는 아니될 것이다. 모두 긍정적인 사고를 가지고 더 멋진 미래를 위하여 상식을 회복하여 힘차게 나아가자. 이 얼마나 가슴 벗찬 즐거움과 설레임으로 충만된 시간 그 자체가 될 것이기 때문이다.
